Riggs High Class of ‘63
The Class of '63 Reunion Committee invites you to join us and many of our fellow classmates June 28-30, 2013, at the ClubHouse Hotel & Suites in Pierre for our 50th class reunion as we remember and celebrate old friendships.
We have reserved a block of rooms at the ClubHouse at a rate of $109 per night. The ClubHouse is a new hotel that opened in 2012 and is located at 808 West Sioux Avenue, right before you cross the bridge to Ft. Pierre and right next to the Ramkota, where we have held our past reunions. The $109 rate includes a complimentary continental breakfast; free parking; free area and airport shuttle; in-room coffee service; microwave and refrigerator; a complimentary newspaper; and free wireless internet service throughout the hotel. Additionally, the $109 rate will be honored for your entire stay, so if you arrive a couple of days early or stay a couple of days after the reunion, the rate will be the same. To get this special rate, when making your reservation, please tell them that you're with the Pierre Class Reunion of 1963. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Reservations for this room block cannot be made online. You must call the hotel directly (605-494-2582). Because we do have to guarantee our room block, we are asking that you make your reservations before May 25th so, if we need to, we can increase or decrease the number of rooms we currently have reserved without paying a penalty. For more information on the ClubHouse, visit their website at www.pierre.clubhouseinn.com .
The reunion will begin Friday afternoon, June 28, with registration from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the lobby of the ClubHouse. Friday night at 5:00 p.m. we will gather for a welcoming reception hosted by Milton & Dawn Morris at their home at 103 Woodriver Quay. Milton & Dawn's home is located about 1 block west of the ClubHouse at the west end of the river bike path adjacent to the Ramkota parking lot. Since parking is limited at the Morris', you may want to leave your car at the ClubHouse and just walk over to their home. Hors d' oeuvres, snacks, and a variety of beverages will be provided.
For those of you who are interested in seeing your old high school, we have made arrangements for Riggs High to be open from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday morning for that purpose. We do have to give the school an estimate of how many to expect so if you're interested, please indicate so on the registration form.
Saturday night we will gather at 5:30 p.m. at the Redrossa Italian Grille, located within the ClubHouse, for a group photo, dinner buffet and cash bar. If you have any special dietary needs or restrictions, please note them on the registration form that was mailed to you and the Redrossa Grille will do their best to accommodate your needs. We have some fun things planned so be ready for a night of fun and excitement as we take a walk down memory lane and reminisce about the friendships formed and the things we did during our high school days and, for many of us, our grade school and junior high days as well.
Sunday morning we will meet at 11:00 a.m. for a farewell brunch at the Milton & Dawn Morris home.
The reunion registration fee is $95 for classmates and $90 for spouses/guests if you register before May 15th. After May 15th, registrations will be $100 for classmates and $95 for spouses/guests. The registration fee includes administrative costs, a special gift for all attendees, and food and beverages at the Friday night reception and Sunday brunch. The dinner on Saturday night is also included in the registration fee, however, there will be a cash bar. Dress for the weekend will be casual. Periodic updates on the reunion will be posted on the Riggs Class of '63 web page www.riggsclassof63.com so checkit for updated information on the reunion.
A lot of time has passed since high school and our lives have changed in many ways since those high school days. At past reunions we’ve found that there is never enough time to visit with each other on a one-to-one basis to reminisce about those "good old days" and to see what each classmate has been doing since graduation. As part of our 50th reunion celebration, we are asking that you take a few minutes to either email or write us a synopsis of any memorable things you can remember about your high school days (whether it’s something about yourself or a fellow classmate) and we will share those stories at the reunion. The stories can be something that happened at school or, probably even more interesting, things that happened outside of school. For those of you who are unable to join us at the reunion, we will post the stories on the web page after the reunion so you can see what interesting things your classmates remember. If you send us any stories and wish to remain anonymous, we will honor that wish.
Many classmates are interested in hearing about what our classmates have been doing since we got out of high school. Consequently, we would also like you to send us a synopsis of what you have been doing the past 50 years. You can include information on your family, hobbies, work, recreational activities, health, etc. If you would like to send a recent photo, we'll include that too. We will post these in the Alumni News section on our web page and everyone will have access to them before the reunion so you can read them before you arrive. It will be a great way to share your stories with all of your fellow classmates and give you something to talk about when you see your fellow classmates and even help you seek out classmates who have similar interests.
Many of our classmates have already shared their stories on our web page so please take a few minutes to read their stories. If you enjoy reading about your fellow classmates, please send us your stories to let us know what’s going on in your life so others can enjoy reading about you too. We would like you to send us your Things I Remember About High School and My Life Since High School stories even if you’re unable to join us at the reunion. If your story is already posted on the web page and you would like to update it, please send us an update and we’ll post it.
Please email your stories to us at email@example.com or mail them to :

One of the things planned for Saturday night will be random drawings for door prizes. Everyone in attendance will be eligible for the drawings. If you would like to donate a door prize, please indicate so on the registration form. The door prize can be something native to your city or state, something made by you, a gift card, or even some old Riggs High collectibles. Many people will be flying in and may have limited luggage space so please keep that in mind if you're going to donate a door prize.
We are excited about the reunion and hope that you share in our excitement. We hope you'll be able to join us and look forward to seeing you at the reunion.
